About Me

Hi!  I’m an author, fiber artist, and Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT), in Anchorage, Alaska.

In 1999, I wrote and self-published the first book on locker hooking with fabric entitled, “Locker Hooking With Fabric Strips”, which started my business, Alaska Locker Hooking Etc.  Locker hooking is an “old rug hooking technique” using fabric strips or thick yarn, a locker hook, latch hook rug canvas, and locking thread (yarn which is inside the loops).  You can make rugs, wall hangings, clothing, purses, belts, baskets, blankets, frames, kitchen and bath items, tons of other home decor and accessories!   I enjoy locker hooking because it is fun, easy, and portable!  It’s such a great and inexpensive way of recycling materials!

I also enjoy crocheting and designing patterns!  I especially love crocheting rag rugs.  I also crochet Alaskan rocks, which make great napkin and paper weights, bookends, door stops, and decorations 🙂  They are little gifts from Alaska!

In 2010, I made an Alaskan Stuffie for my first grandbaby and they just keep multiplying!  They are cute, soft, colorful, crazy, fun stuffed creatures! For ALL ages!  Also available, are Alaskan Stuffies t-shirts and cute note cards.

I love to tangle and teach classes!  The Zentangle® Method™ is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful abstract art by drawing repetitive structured patterns. I was trained by the founders of Zentangle®, Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, in Providence Rhode Island. Zentangle®, Zentangle Method™, and CZT® are a registered trademarks of Zentangle® Inc. and copyrights are enforced.  Learn more at: www.zentangle.com  I was the one who said “I can not draw” (ok stick figures!) until I discovered Zentangle®.  I am now an artist and I can draw!  Anyone can do it!  Anything is possible one stroke (one step) at a time!”  You will be truly amazed and fall in love with this magical art form.

I’ve had some big bumps in the road, but I’ve hung in there through the years because I love what I do, and I believe in handmade, and most of all I love my customers and students who I’ve gotten to know along the road.  You can find me in the Arctic Rose Gallery. This is also where I host the free Zentangle® Social Meetup group once a month. For more info: www.meetup.com/ZentangleAnchorage
